Set up the Slack integration

Setting up the Sendtask integration for Slack is easy. Following is a step-by-step process you can use to add the Sendtask integration to your Slack teams.

Please note: By default all members can add apps to a Slack team. However, your Team Owner (if it’s someone other than you) may have disabled this feature. If you’re not able to add the Sendtask integration to one of your teams, you need to contact your Team Owner.

Step 1: Log in to your Sendtask account (if you’re not currently logged in).

Step 2: Click on your profile icon in the top right of the screen and select Settings. Now click on “Add to Slack”.

Add to slack 2

Step 3: Select the Slack team that you’d like to use Sendtask with.

Authorize Sendtask

Step 4: Now you’re ready to go! Check out the commands you can use with Slack here.

For example:
/sendtask @jason Buy milk on the way home tomorrow bart.simpson@springfield.com
OR
/sendtask Buy milk on the way home tomorrow @jason bart.simpson@springfield.com

Both of these examples will create a task titled “Buy milk on the way home tomorrow” that is assigned to Jason and has a due date set to the next day. However, it will also include the task creator and Bart Simpson as followers in the task.

Note: If you want to assign the task to yourself and add collaborators, you have to include your @name or email address before you include any followers.
