How To Export Your Tasks

Exporting your tasks and related details is easy. Whether you’re moving to another task manager or just need a copy of your data, this step-by-step guide will illustrate how to export your tasks in less than a minute.

Please note: Your tasks and related details will be exported in CSV format. You can import the file into any task manager which supports CSV import so you don’t have to copy everything manually.

Step 1) Click on your profile icon in the top right of the screen

Step 2) Click on “Settings” to access your account details

Step 4) Read the on-screen instructions and click on the Download button

Please note: You may need to enable pop-ups in your browser, here’s how:

Instructions for Chrome browser

  1. Start the download process by pressing on “Download tasks in CSV”.
  2. If the download started, then you can ignore the rest of the instructions.
  3. Check the address bar, there you will find an icon indicating a blocked popup. Press on it.
  4. A small window will show up. Under the section “The following pop-ups were blocked on this page” press on a link in blue, this will start the CSV download process.

Instructions for Firefox browser

  1. Start the download process by pressing on “Download tasks in CSV”.
  2. If the download started, then you can ignore the rest of the instructions.
  3. Below the address bar, you will find a bar indicating that “Firefox prevented this site from opening a pop-up window”.
  4. On that bar, you will find a button called “Preferences”. Press on it. A menu will show up.
  5. In that menu find an item called “Show `Some url`” – press on it. This will start the CSV download process.

Step 5) Wait for your download and you’ll have access to the CSV file on your computer

Please note: If you’re importing your tasks to a task manager where your collaborators are not yet invited, it’s best to leave the Task Assignee and Task Followers fields unmapped. This will ensure all tasks are imported successfully. Alternatively, you can invite your collaborators to a shared project in the new task manager before importing your tasks (using the same email address they had in Sendtask).

 

Edit a project in Sendtask

This guide will show you how to edit a project and change things like the project name, color, and followers.

To make a change, start by going to the project you want to edit. You can do this in one of two ways:

Option 1: Select the project using the Filters dropdown

Step 1: Click on the filters drop-down in the top left of the screen and select “Tasks in Project…”

Step 2: Select the project you want to edit from your list

Option 2: Click on the project name in Task View Mode

This will lead you to the Project View Mode. Now, you need to click the “Edit Project” icon in order to make adjustments.

This will bring up the project details panel. Here you can make adjustments to the project name, color, and followers.

Once you make the desired changes, simply click on “Save” and your project will be updated.

Format comments in Sendtask

It’s easy to format your comments in Sendtask. The following illustrations will show you the exact syntax you need to use to create things like bold or italic text.

Add a comment in Sendtask

9 - Add a comment

You can add a comment to describe your task in more detail or communicate with your followers. Simply click the chat box, add your comment, and press the “Add Comment” button.

Note: Followers are collaborators who participate or need to know about the task, but they are not the direct assignee. All followers will be automatically notified when there’s a new comment.

Assign a task to someone in Sendtask

You can assign the task by clicking the profile icon in the top of the task description box. If you’re logged in with your Google account, you will see your contacts. Otherwise, type in the email address of the assignee. Then simply choose the assignee and the task will automatically disappear from your list and go to theirs.

Delete a task in Sendtask

You can delete a task by clicking the “More options” button in the top right of the task description box and selecting “Delete”. You will then get an option to Undo deleting a task in case you did it by mistake.

Add a task section in Sendtask

17 - Add a section

Sections help you organize your tasks and projects. To create a section, just add a colon (:) at the end of a task title. Sections are especially helpful when you sort a project by manual order (choose “Sort By> Manual”) and then drag tasks into the right sections.

Pro tip: You can also add #, ## or ### at the beginning of a section to create further structure.

Add or remove a task follower in Sendtask

If you want to share a task with team members or anyone else, you need to add a task follower. You can do this by clicking the “Add Follower” button and typing in their name or email address. You can remove followers from the same field.

Create projects in Sendtask

Project names help you organize tasks and work as labels for filtering. You can add a project name by clicking on the “+” button and typing in its name or choosing an existing project.

Attach a file in Sendtask

10 - Attach a file

You can attach a file by clicking on the paperclip icon below at the beginning of the chat box. Your file will be uploaded and all task followers will be notified by email.
